Brentford stunned Eintracht Frankfurt at Gtech Community Stadium with a 7-0 victory. Germany international Kevin Schade and Igor Thiago, who scored 22 Premier League goals last term, scored braces for Keith Andrews’ side.
Frankfurt had a very good pre-season under the returnee Adi Hütter before this debacle. They also faced another blow with captain Robin Koch having to be substituted before the break due to an injury.
Club record signing Mamadou Sangare, Dango Ouattara and Keane Lewis-Potter scored the remaining goals for Brentford as they got all seven goals before the final twenty minutes. It was also a night to forget for Brazilian goalkeeper Kaua Santos days after Hütter confirmed he’ll start ahead of Michael Zetterer.
Frankfurt, who will not take part in any European competition this season, will hope to recover from this setback when they play Oberliga side SC St. Tönis in the DFB-Pokal. They will face Union Berlin away from home in their first Bundesliga encounter.
