Bayer Leverkusen lost for the first time this season on Wednesday, going down 3-0 to Atalanta in the Europa League final.

In a post-match interview with RTL, Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah admitted that Atalanta deserved to lift the trophy.

“They absolutely deserved to win today. We didn't find our way into our game. They were more aggressive in the duels, left us very little space and therefore deserved to win against us today,” said Tah.

Tah, who captained Leverkusen in the absence of Lukas Hradecky, also said that Die Werkself must put the game behind them tomorrow and switch focus to Saturday's DFB-Pokal final against Kaiserslautern.

"It's a huge disappointment, of course. When you've got this far, you want a different result. That's the state of mind right now. Nevertheless, we have to keep going. We still have a very, very important game ahead of us. Even if it hurts right now, you have to allow the pain. We move on from tomorrow."
