When Edmond Tapsoba signed a long-term contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2028 in September last year, it was reported that a release clause of €95 million had been written into the deal.

In an interview with Kicker, the 25-year-old centre-back has commented on the clause, saying:

"It's crazy and it gives me the feeling that they have a lot of faith in me at Leverkusen."

At the moment, however, Tapsoba insists he's not thinking about leaving Leverkusen at all.

The clause therefore means "nothing" to him and is "just a number".

“I didn't come here to move on after two years, I came here to develop. I'm convinced of the style of play here and it suits me perfectly. So I was ready to sign such a contract,” he emphasized.
