FC Augsburg has exercised the purchase option for Cedric Zesiger whom originally arrived at the club on loan from VfL Wolfsburg.

The reported fee for the central defender is believed to be around €4million euros.

In addition, the 26-year-old has signed a four-year contract at Die Fuggestadters.

Zesiger joined Augsburg in the winter and made 15 appearances for the club in the second half of the season.

“I'm very happy that my journey at FCA continues," Zesiger explained this morning after the deal was agreed.

"My expectations for the move have been fully met. I feel very comfortable in the team and in the city.

"This is extremely important to me, in addition to the sporting perspective. As a team, we've developed, but we haven't reached the end yet.

"That's why I'm excited to be a part of FCA in the future and want to continue to contribute to achieving our goals,” he added.
