18:00 Pokal Kickoffs: Hamburg and Karlsruhe simply unstoppable, Dresden eliminate Fortuna Düsseldorf

Three games wrapped up Sunday's action in the DfB Pokal. Hamburg ran out 7-1 winners over SV Meppen. Karlsruhe crushed Sport Freunde Lotte 5-0, and Dynamo Dresden extinguished Fortuna Düsseldorf's cup ambitions in the first round with a 2-0 triumph.

SV Meppen 1 - Hamburger SV 7

Hamburg left the Hanseatic city and made the trip to Regionalliga Nord side SV Meppen this evening. Stefan Baumgart's side opened their account in the 17th-minute with their first real attack of note. Ex-Dortmund youth, Immanuel Pherai, received Meffert's pass from the left before firing low inside the left upright.

HSV added a second from a freekick struck by Miro Muheim. Luis Sprekelmeyer fouled Karabec to present the set-piece opportunity which the 26-year-old Swiss midfielder lifted over the Meppen wall expertly.

As the hour neared, Hamburg put the result beyond doubt which delighted the travelling fans. Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer surged down the right flank, crossed into the box, and Davie Selke swung a right-footed volley into the net.

Julius Pünt was forced to pick the ball out of his goal for a fourth time in quick succession as Pherai notched his second of the game from point-blank range just minutes later. Ninteen-year-old debutante, Fabio Baldé, added a fifth prior to Tim Möller's own-goal. Robert Glatzel finished off the HSV rout with a late header, but Meppen managed a consolation strike via Daniel Haritonov in injury time.

Dynamo Dresden 2 - Fortuna Düsseldorf 0

A titanic battle graced the Rudolph-Harbig-Stadion as 3.Liga high-flyers Dresden welcomed Fortuna Düsseldorf. The hosts surged into an early lead in the 18th-minute with the opening goal scored by a former Düsseldorf player. Meißner fed the ball to Hauptmann in the middle. His cross fell to Christoph Daferner, who initially misfired, but recovered to beat Florian Kastenmeier at his near post.

The second-half was end-to-end with Felix Klaus threatening for Düsseldorf, but Dresden doubled up with just over 20 minutes remaining. Ex-Bayern youngster Oliver Batista-Meier found Robin Meißner in space to blast past Kastenmeier into the right corner.

Sport Freunde Lotte 0 - Karlsruhe SC 5

The hosts from Regionalliga West stood little to no chance against a lively Karlsruhe who took no prisoners from the get-go. The 2.Bundesliga outfit made it 1-0 with their first attempt on goal - David Herold's strike initially looked tame, however the swerve and dip defied Beckermeyer in the Lotte goal. Not even an outstretched hand could divert it around the post. Marvin Wanitzek added a second with a crisp finish into the lower right corner when he was set up by Budu Zivzivadze.

The final nail driven into the coffin came inside four second-half minutes and in cruel fashion too. As if to compile further misery, Wanitzek's cross bounced through the box where it took an unfortunate flick off Lotte centre-half, Johannes Sabah, steering it into his own net. Zivzivadze turned goal-scorer with less than a quarter of the affair remaining, capitalising on Bambase Conté's neat pass into the box. The latter made it a five star performance, curling home from 15 metres to round off a comfortable win.
