Alex Clapham has stepped down from his position at Borussia Dortmund after working as a technical coach for a year and a half. Clapham posted the news on his LinkedIn page as he thanked his colleagues and the fans.
“The end of 2025 aligns with the end of my time at Borussia Dortmund,” said the 36-year-old at the start of his farewell message. The Englishman had a contract at the club until the end of the season.
Clapham’s focus as part of Niko Kovac's coaching team was mainly on set-piece duties. He also worked as a technical coach under the previous coach, Nuri Şahin. Clapham also has work experience in his home nation England, Andorra, Spain, Sweden, Brazil, and Italy. Sky's Patrick Berger reported Dortmund will not fill the position externally, and they opted to handle the departure internally.
