Reports: Bochum settle on Zeidler as new head coach

Germany's Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung reports that FC St. Gallen head-coach Peter Zeidler has emerged as the front-runner for the VfL Bochum trainer position.

The Revierklub's "Tief im Western" Magazine goes one step further to claim that the 61-year-old will be unveiled as the team's new gaffer in a few days.

Of the three candidates touted for the VfL Bochum trainer position, it looks to be the case that FC St. Gallen's Peter Zeidler will take up the task of coaching the Revierklub in the top flight next season. Yhis is reportedly Germany's Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung and Bochum's "Tief im Western" fan magazine. At the age of 61, Zeidler will take up his first German top flight head-coaching assignment.

Bochum face a major rebuilding project over the summer following the resignation of sporting director Patrick Fabian and the official release of ten players on the 2023/24 roster. Zeidler brings with him the experience of having coached German lower division sides such as VfR Allen, FC Nürnberg II, and the Stuttgarter Kickers. He also served as Ralf Rangnick's assistant at Hoffenheim between 2008 and 2011.

The Schwäbisch-Gmund native has been working in Austria, France, and Switzerland over the past 13 years. He's led FC St. Gallen to the Swiss cup final twice in his current appointment, which began in 2018. "Tief im Western" claims that Zeidler will be introduced in the coming days.
