Following his conviction for illegal possession of weapons, Borussia Dortmund's Karim Adeyemi still faces potential sanctions from both the national team and his club.

A meeting is planned with BVB after the 23-year-old's return from the German national team, according to the typically well-informed Ruhr Nachrichten.

The report states that whether Adeyemi will not be punished by BVB, receive an internal fine or even be temporarily suspended depends on the outcome of this conversation.

Adeyemi already felt the legal consequences of his mistake when he was fined a hefty sum totaling €450,000. DFB sporting director Rudi Völler also commented on the matter.

Völler explained on ZDF that they were "critical" in their dealings but "don't want to condemn him either... Young players make mistakes; in this case, it was a stupid mistake.”
