In the aftermath of Borussia Dortmund's dramatic 3-3 draw with St.Pauli in their Bundesliga opener, Pascal Groß gave an honest appraisal of his team's performance.

"We didn't play well, so in the end they [St.Pauli] deserved to score goals as well. I think when we're 3-1 up with 10 minutes to go, we should win the game.

"We showed some bits of quality where we could score goals and like how we created the penalty. But, all in all, I think it wasn't good enough.

“In terms of team experience and game management, we should be better and win. But if you're not good enough to do that, the opponent pushed and tried everything. They deserved a point,” he the Bundesliga interviewer.

The veteran midfielder went on to discuss the penalty awarded to St.Pauli and the subsequent red card for BVB's Filippo Mané, which was a turning point in momentum.

"It doesn't help if you are one man less and you play away [from home]. Then they scored, 3-2 from the penalty, and red card. [Then] it gets loud and get messy [in the stadium].

“You have to try stick together and get everything right in the moment. We couldn't handle that, then they scored from outside the box and they deserved the point,” he added.
