In the wake of France’s successful 2-0 win over Croatia in the UEFA Nations League quarter final second-leg, head coach Didier Deschamps praised Michael Olise.

The Bayern Munich winger scored and set up Ousmane Dembele as France overturned a two-goal first-leg deficit to win 5-4 on penalties.

“He has a lot of qualities and has progressed a lot. He was brilliant [against Croatia],” Deschamps explained.

“Sometimes it takes a bit of time, but he has established a relationship with the front three [of Mbappe, Dembele, Barcola].

“I am happy for him. This suggests more to come, and he will gain confidence.

“He was maybe a bit shy and reserved, but now he has loosened up through what he did with Bayern Munich,” the Les Bleus boss added.

The 23-year-old has been ripping it up for the Bavarians since he joined from Crystal Palace, with 13 goals and 11 assists in 40 outings thus far.
