Germany and Bayern Munich star Jonas Urbig has suffered a capsule injury in his right knee, the Bavarian club confirmed this evening.
The injury was picked up while on international duty with the German national team on Thursday afternoon, 26 March.
The 22-year-old shot-stopper will therefore miss the upcoming international matches against Switzerland and Ghana.
“Jonas did very well in training, so it's a real shame. It was more of a precautionary measure,” coach Julian Nagelsmann said.
“Nothing serious, he could have continued training here with us - but I didn't want to push him too hard,” he added.
Sky Germany have also confirmed that Urbig will leave Nagelsmann's national team squad early and return to Munich.
The news comes as a blow to the young goalkeeper who could have been in line to earn his first senior cap for the DFB-elf.
Urbig has previously made 22 appearances for Germany at underage level, of which eight have come at U-21 grade.
FC Augsburg goalkeeper Finn Dahmen has been called up as his replacement for both fixtures which are just days away.
