After Fábio Vieira’s successful loan spell last season, Hamburger SV have been exploring the possibility of signing the Portuguese midfielder on a permanent basis.

However, negotiations have so far stalled over the fee, with HSV looking at a price below €10 million while Arsenal are demanding a significantly higher amount.

“A player with this quality is priced in a bracket that is not HSV’s bracket,” Hamburg’s new sporting director, Kathleen Krüger, admitted recently.

Nevertheless, HSV remain hopeful of reaching an agreement for Vieira, according to Sport Bild – but the only possible solution is for Arsenal to lower their demands.

The good thing from HSV’s perspective is that Vieira no longer appears to have a future at Arsenal and is expected to leave the club.

However, the Gunners will likely want to wait and see whether other suitors emerge who are willing to pay more than HSV.
