Hofmann no longer considering leaving Bayer Leverkusen

Jonas Hofmann has confirmed that he’s not considering leaving Bayer Leverkusen following the coaching change at the club.

Bayer Leverkusen veteran Jonas Hofmann is coming off a tough season with very limited playing time.

However, after Erik ten Hag replaced Xabi Alonso as head coach, the 33-year-old is hopeful for a fresh opportunity and is not considering a summer exit.

“That’s correct, yes,” Hofmann told Kicker when asked if he’s no longer thinking about leaving.

“If, as a player, you feel that something isn’t right, that something isn’t working well, you should of course go to the coach,” he added.

“That’s what I did with Xabi. But there was also a period when we didn’t speak for several weeks. Back then, I took the first step and asked what was going on. After that, things maybe got a little better.”

Speaking about ten Hag, Hofmann said he’s “very clear in his statements and has already sought conversations.”

“From my perspective, that’s very important, especially as a new coach. You have to talk a lot with the players, get to know them - not only on the pitch, but also as a person.”
