VfL Wolfsburg and 1.FC Heidenheim clashed in the Volkswagen Arena this afternoon. In the end, Adrian Beck's goal was cancelled out by a late Moritz Jenz header which resulted in tense a 1-1 stalemate come full-time.
Neither side managed to impose themselves on proceedings for around 20 minutes until Marnon Busch tried his luck from range. The hosts combined next as Christian Eriksen fed Lovro Majer who rattled the side-netting.
At the other end, a misplaced pass from Aaron Zehnter presented Mathias Honsak with a huge opportunity. The Austrian looked to round Grabara, but the Polish shot-stopper crucially stuck out a left boot to intercept.
However, Frank Schmidt's men managed to make amends for missing that gilt-edged chance. Marvin Pieringer's cross ricocheted into the path of Schöppner then broke kindly for Beck who fired into the lower-right corner.
Approaching the final third of the game, Dorsch delivered a great cross from a central position. It found the head of Beck who steered it goal-ward, but Grabara pulled off a delightful one-handed save.
With time running out for Wolfsburg, changes were needed as the attack-minded Lindstrøm replaced Gerhardt. Despite lacking in the final third, Wolfsburg eventually equalised as Jenz steered home Eriksen's 80th-minute corner.
Heidenheim almost snatched victory at the death when Schöppner's fizzing strike required a tip over the bar from Grabara. The resulting corner, steered just wide by Luca Kerber, meant both sides had to settle for a point apiece.
