18-year-old striker Fynn Schenten is on his way out of 1. FC Köln on a loan deal to Dutch second-tier club Roda JC. The technical director of Roda JC, Rob Servais, confirmed the transfer on Saturday to “De Nieuwe Star” newspaper.

The club also surprised the fans with “Welcome, Fynn” displayed on their stadium’s scoreboard screen ahead of a pre-season friendly earlier on Saturday. However, both clubs are yet to officially announce the deal.

Roda JC are not expected to have an option to buy as Schenten is a highly-rated player in Köln. Several clubs across Europe were interested in signing him for the upcoming season, with his imminent commitment to Roda JC surprising many who followed the track from the beginning.

Including a home game against FC Bayern, Schenten played seven Bundesliga games last season. He signed until 2030 with his first professional contract at the club at the start of the year.

The striker finished top-scorer in the youth DFB-Pokal last season with six goals. He also scored in all five Köln UEFA Youth League games, including when Effzeh fans broke the attendance record of the competition against Inter.
