Leverkusen identify Genk full-back El Ouahdi as Medina alternative

The Moroccan international is contacted to the Belgian Pro League outfit until the summer of 2028 and is valued by Transfermarkt.com at €17million.

According to Kicker.de, Bayer Leverkusen are looking for a full-back on the right side who will be more involved in attacks. 

For this position, the sports magazine reports that the club has set its sights on Zakaria El Ouahdi from KRC Genk.

The 24-year-old made a brief appearance as replacement for Achraf Hakimi in Morocco's World Cup quarter-final loss to France.

El Ouahdi joined Genk from RWDM Brussels in 2023 for €2.5million and has since made 112 appearances contributing to 32 goals.

VfL Wolfsburg were interested last summer, and VfB Stuttgart also made inquiries about the winger as recently as January.

Whether Leverkusen will pursue him seriously depends on whether their push for Marseille's Facundo Medina goes through
