Bayer 04 Leverkusen have identified Filipe Luís as their preferred candidate to replace Kasper Hjulmand as head coach, according to Sky Deutschland.

The German outlet reports that negotiations are currently underway with the 40-year-old former Brazil international.

Hjulmand remains under contract at Leverkusen until 2027, with Bayer 04 reportedly planning to announce his departure only once an agreement with his successor has been finalised.

Filipe Luís guided Brazilian side Flamengo to both a league title and the Copa Libertadores before being dismissed in March.

The report adds that Leverkusen also have alternative candidates in mind, but the 40-year-old is their clear priority for now.
