Jesper Lindstrøm's proposed loan move to Schalke 04 from SSC Napoli seemed all but done, but the deal has now collapsed, according to multiple sources, including Sky Germany, Bild and Transfermarkt.

The Danish winger arrived in Germany on Friday ahead of the proposed transfer, but he will now have to return to Italy after the two clubs ultimately failed to reach a final agreement.

According to Bild, Schalke 04 are frustrated with Napoli, who allegedly failed to honour verbal agreements and promises made regarding the structure of the deal.

The report claims that Schalke wanted a purchase option included in the loan agreement, while Napoli insisted on a mandatory buy clause. Since the Bundesliga club was unwilling to accept such an obligation, the transfer has now fallen through.
