Turning 40 years old in March next year, Manuel Neuer may still have one or two seasons left in him.

Reports have suggested that the veteran goalkeeper could extend his contract, which expires at the end of the season, by one or even two years.

At a press conference on Monday, Neuer was asked about his future and didn't rule anything out.

“We talk every time we see each other. I'm absolutely relaxed. What's important is what we do with the team," he said.

"How I feel will also be important. I'm taking my time; I have to make sure I stay fit and perform well. Then we can always talk,” he said.

Neuer also outlined the factors he is weighing in deciding his future.

“There are many factors involved. It's certainly a question of fitness, health, motivation and also what happens with the club next season.”

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany also reflected on the possibility of extending Neuer's contract.

“It's exactly about the factors Manu mentioned. There doesn't have to be any time pressure. It's a club decision, not just Manu, not just me. The important thing is that he has fun and continues to do just that. At some point, the moment will come when it will be discussed,” he said.
