L'Équipe reports Paris Brunner could make Jürgen Klopp’s Germany squad on Thursday. The new coach of Germany national team is expected to list a 40-man squad as there will be four UEFA Nations League games set to be played in the space of ten days.
Meanwhile, reports from Germany mentioned that the most likely scenario will be his inclusion in the U21 squad. Either way, it’ll be the first nomination for the 20-year-old who has won Euros and World Cup at the U17 level.
Brunner needed some time to flourish at AS Monaco after joining the French club from Borussia Dortmund two years ago. After a mediocre campaign on loan at Cercle Brugge, he only played seven Ligue 1 games last season.
This term, he has already played three times more minutes than in his first season at Monaco. Under the highly-rated new coach Filipe Luís, Brunner scored five goals in six appearances. However, he could now face a suspension by LFP after his controversial celebration against Strasbourg over the past weekend.
As for his international career, multiple reports suggested he was very close to committing his future to the DR Congo national team before several calls from Klopp changed the situation. Reports from Germany also mentioned he could get a senior call-up if there are absentees due to injuries or other factors.
