Neuer on playing at the Bernabeu: "You need to have trust in yourself"

Manuel Neuer has spoken about the significance and difficulty of playing away at the legendary Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

After drawing 2-2 in the first leg of their Champions League semifinal with Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena, Bayern Munich will face the newly crowned Spanish champions in the return leg at a sold-out Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.

With plenty of experience to draw on, 38-year-old Bayern captain Manuel Neuer knows how to approach an away game at the legendary stadium.

“I know the Bernabeu from previously," Neuer said on the rebuilt Bernabeu.

"This stadium has something special, something historic. There's hardly another stadium in Europe where it's better to get to play. We're all excited.

"You need to stay with yourself when it's so emotional in a stadium like this and against a team like this. You need to have trust in yourself. You need to turn external factors into something positive. We'll try to do that tomorrow. If we perform, then we're definitely a candidate for the final."
