Nagelsmann provides update on Davies, praises Sané

Julian Nagelsmann has gone into more detail about Alphonso Davies' injury and praised Leroy Sané.
To the surprise of most, Alphonso Davies wasn't in Bayern München's squad for Sunday's 7-0 victory over VfL Bochum, with the club revealing shortly before kick off that the Canadian international was out due to muscular problems.

In an interview with DAZN yesterday, Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann elaborated on Davies' injury.

"He felt his muscle on his left leg. It would have been too much of a risk [to let him play]. He wouldn't have been able to show his dynamism."

Nagelsmann made three changes to the side that beat Wolfsburg on Matchday 2, also leaving Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry out of his starting line-up.

After starting on the bench three times in a row, Leroy Sané was one of the players who came into the starting eleven, and the German international had an impressive game, opening the scoring after just four minutes.

"He pulled himself out his slump a little bit and put in a super performance. He is a player who is always a bit polarizing because of his nature. When he's playing at 100 percent, he's one of the best players in Europe," said Nagelsmann.

"He has so many skills, combining technical ability with plenty of pace. But it's also important to me that he does things that doesn't require the same kind of talent, such as making sprints to win the ball back."
