BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl has previously stated that he expects a decision on a contract extension offer tendered to teenage sensation Youssoufa Moukoko. Late last week, BVB boss Hans-Joachim Watzke reiterated that the latest proposal submitted by the club required a timely answer.

Speaking to Patrick Kleinmann of Germany's Kicker Magazine over the weekend, Kehl firmly put his foot down and spoke of a deadline within the next seven days. The club administrator expects a decision from the 18-year-old before Dortmund kicks off league play once again next Sunday against Augsburg.

"Youssoufa and his advisors know that we expect a decision this week, because we want to have the issue clarified before the first matchday," Kehl told the publication, "[this is necessary] so that the lad can focus fully on his sporting challenges."

"Youssoufa can now accept this offer and commit to Borussia Dortmund, or we shall part ways," Kehl continued, "I would like it if he decided for us because I see enormous potential for him if he continues his development with us. There are nevertheless limits for us as a club. Now it's up to him to make a commitment in a timely manner."

"Youssoufa is a wonderful lad," Kehl added, "He's been with us for nearly seven years. we have trained and developed him. With us, he has become a professional and an international player. He has received an incredible amount of support from us. We're convinced that this is the right place for him to continue."

Kehl spoke of a "very attractive offer". Reports emerging late last month suggested that die Schwarzgelben were prepared to offer Moukoko a salary of up to €6 million annually. The youngster himself directly denied this report. As a player sitting on an expiring contract, Moukoko is permitted to negotiate with other clubs during the current transfer window for a move on a free transfer after the season.

Many large clubs are obviously interested in the young talent.

Thus far, however, only links with Newcastle have surfaced.
