Reports: Schalke interested in bringing back Churlinov, Glabach to pocket €15 million for Beyer?
There's new news on potential transfers involving two Bundesligists currently plying their trade at Turf Moor in the EFL Championship.
Gladbach defender Louis Jordan Beyer and former Stuttgart/Schalke winger Darko Churlinov both moved to Burnley F.C. during the current campaign. In the case of Beyer, a loan arrangement was secured during early in the recently completed January transfer window. It's been no secret that the Clarets wish to hold onto the 22-year-old on a permanent basis. Sky Germany reports that a purchase obligation could net the German foals a record sum.
According to the German broadcasting outfit, a purchase clause of a whopping €15 million is built into Beyer's loan contract. This would constitute the fifth largest outgoing transfer fee in Gladbach's history. While this may seem a hefty sum for a player valued only at €4 million in the latest transfermarkt listings, Beyer remains a solid regular in Burnley trainer Vincent Kompany's starting XI. First-placed Burnley will certainly consider him worth holding onto in the likely event of promotion.
One former Bundesliga player - also 22-years-of-age and also valued at around €4 million - appears to have no prospects with the Lancashire club is former VfB Stuttgart and FC Schalke 04 winger Darko Churlinov. The North Macedonian international has made just six league appearances for the Clarets since being sold to the club in late August. Churlinov spent the 2021/22 campaign on loan with Schalke in the German second division and was instrumental in the club's promotion campaign.
