Reports: Freiburg seek to pick up Paderborn's Muslija

Sky Germany and the Bundesrepublik's "Sport Bild" tabloid report that SC Freiburg are actively courting German-Kosovar midfielder Florent Muslija of SC Paderborn 07.
German-Kosovar midfielder Florent Muslija appears destined for a move to Germany's top footballing flight soon. The former Karlsruher SC and Hannover 96 professional is among the highest rated players in Germany's second division. The 25-year-old midfielder/winger maintains a current estimated market worth of €2.5 million in the latest transfermarkt update.

Muslija's current contract with SC Paderborn 07 expires at the end of the current campaign, meaning that he is free to negotiate with other clubs over a free transfer this summer during the current January transfer window. Paderborn will naturally seek to acquire some cash for the player now rather than lose him without renumeration in a few months.

Sky Germany and the Bundesrepublik's "Sport Bild" tabloid report that SC Freiburg - very much still in need of midfield assistance - may be willing to pay for him now. Muslija has some Bundesliga experience, making 17 appearances and scoring two goals for Hannover in the 2018/19 campaign. He's netted 25 goals and registered 14 assists in 70 appearances since joining Paderborn in 2021.

Muslija has scored seven goals and bagged five assists for Paderborn in the current season. VfL Bochum are also linked with a swoop for him this month, but the former German youth international would surely consider his sporting and professional prospects in Beisgau to be better. Paderborn remain in the promotion race, meaning that an extension with his current club might still be a possibility.
