Bayern Munich will be determined to bounce back from Saturday's disappointing 3-0 defeat to Bundesliga title rivals Bayer Leverkusen when they face Lazio in the first of two round of 16 games on Wednesday night.

"We have always shown a reaction after defeats so far. The players are self-critical, even after we win. That just shows the high standard that we work at. We're really open with one another. I believe we're ready to show a reaction," said Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel at Tuesday's pre-match press conference.

The Bavarians have enjoyed a successful Champions League campaign, taking 16 points from six games in the group stage, and will be looking to continue in the same vein.

Lazio finished second in Group E behind Atletico Madrid and will take confidence from Saturday's 3-1 win over Cagliari, which ended a three-match losing streak.

The Italian hosts have no injuries or suspensions to worry about.

Bayern will be without Tarek Buchmann, Kingsley Coman, Alphonso Davies, Serge Gnabry, Konrad Laimer, Daniel Peretz and Bouna Sarr.
