Eberl confirmed as Bayern's new board member for sport

Bayern Munich have confirmed Max Eberl as their new board member for sport.
Max Eberl has officially been named Bayern Munich's new board member for sport.

The former Gladbach and RB Leipzig boss has signed a contract until 2027 with the German record champions and will begin his work on March 1.

With Eberl joining, Bayern have finally found a replacement for Hasan Salihamidzic, who was sacked last summer.

"We are delighted to have appointed Max Eberl as our new board member for sport," said Bayern president Herbert Hainer.

"Not only does he have decades of experience in football management, but he also started playing football at FC Bayern and turned professional here. We are convinced that he will successfully shape the future of this club."

Eberl commented:

"I spent my entire childhood and youth at FC Bayern and in Munich, so it is something special for me to now return in a new role to the club where it all began. The job as board member for sport is a great challenge, which I will approach with a lot of respect and humility, but with even more anticipation. Together with everyone here, I want to do everything I can to ensure that FC Bayern continues to be successful in the future and brings joy to its fans."
