Report: RB Leipzig want Bayern midfielder

RB Leipzig are reportedly working on the signing of Bayern München's Sebastian Rudy.
A move to RB Leipzig could be on the cards for Bayern München midfielder Sebastian Rudy, SPORT BILD understands.

According to the report, RB Leipzig have made the first contact with Rudy's management as RB Leipzig sporting director and head coach Ralf Rangnick is working on bringing the 28-year-old to the Red Bull Arena - just as he brought him from VfB Stuttgart to Hoffenheim in 2010.

Julian Nagelsmann, who will take over as RB Leipzig coach in 2019, also worked with Rudy at Hoffenheim and would be pleased to have him at his disposal in Leipzig as well.

RB Leipzig are even willing to break the club's transfer and salary policy in order to sign the 28-year-old. The RB Leipzig management usually have an age limit of up to 24 years when it comes to new signings while there is an upper salary limit of around €4 million at the club.

However, Rudy is 28 years old and earns more than €4 million at Bayern München. According to the report, he will certainly not sign for less than that.

Rudy joined Bayern München from Hoffenheim in 2017 and has so far made 35 appearances for the club with one goal and five assists to his name. The midfielder has played 25 matches for the German national team, scoring one goal.

Update: RB Leipzig sporting director and head coach Ralf Rangnick has commented on the rumor, saying that the transfer isn't 'imagineable' for 'Die Roten Bullen'.
