The DFB sports court has rejected Hamburger SV's appeal against Philip Otele's two-match ban following his red card in the North Derby.

As a result, the German Football Association (DFB) has officially upheld his suspension for HSV's next two Bundesliga matches.

Otele was dismissed in the 79th-minute of last Saturday's 3-1 derby defeat to SV Werder Bremen by referee Dr. Florian Exner.

Subsequently, on April 21, the DFB Control Committee said he was suspended for two league matches for the dangerous foul.

HSV appealed the decision in Frankfurt today, Friday, April 24, with the player, sporting director Claus Costa but were ultimately unsuccessful.

The FC Basel loanee is banned for tomorrow's clash with TSG Hoffenheim and next Saturday's (2 May) trip to Eintracht Frankfurt.
