Confirmed: Köln give Frederik Sørensen outright release
Sporting director Horst Heldt and 1. FC Köln are at least one-third of the way through their targeted payroll reduction effort.
Horst Heldt and the Kölner bosses completed two transactions this weekend involving a pair of players they removed from their active roster last week. Attacking winger Christian Clemens departed for second-tier side SV Darmstadt 98 Friday evening on a free.
On Sunday, the club announced it had officially terminated the contract of Danish center-back Frederik Sørensen. A potential loan or outright sale of the 28-year-old evidently must not have been an options. Both parties thus opted to cancel the contract by mutual consent.
The one-time Juventus prospect has been linked with a move back to FC Copenhagen in his native country.
