Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck remains a major doubt for Germany’s World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg on Friday.
Although the German Football Association confirmed that Schlotterbeck’s condition has “significantly improved,” he missed training on Wednesday for the second consecutive day.
The 25-year-old sustained a foot injury during Dortmund’s 1-1 draw with Hamburger SV on Saturday.
Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann revealed earlier this week that the foot was swollen and didn’t look “ideal”.
If Schlotterbeck is unavailable, his Dortmund teammate Waldemar Anton is expected to start alongside Bayern’s Jonathan Tah in central defence.
Malick Thiaw, who last represented Germany over two years ago, is another alternative.
