Official: Bremen loan Leverkusen defender Arthur as Belocian heads to LaLiga

On the day they completed Moussa Diaby's return, Bayer Leverkusen released two more players on loan. Arthur will remain in the Bundesliga as he’ll replace Yukinari Sugawara at Werder Bremen, while Jeanuël Belocian completed his move to Racing Santander.
The Brazilian right-back initially struggled with serious injuries, making only 44 Bundesliga appearances in three years at Die Werkself. Still only 23, he has a contract until 2031 at Bayer Leverkusen.
“Arthur is a player who can immediately help us out. He’s familiar with the Bundesliga and has showcased his ability at the highest level, so we’re delighted that he has decided to join us,” explained Bremen chief Peter Niemeyer.
Daniel Thioune’s statement confirmed the one-time Brazilian international isn’t part of their plan to replace Samuel Mbangula. “His quality will allow him to fit in quickly with us and he’ll be an option for the back line straight away. He’s quick and strong technically, meaning he can also help our attacking play too.” said the 52-year-old coach.
“I obviously know Werder from the Bundesliga and also the atmosphere at the Weserstadion. I’m looking forward to getting to know the boys and being able to play here.” said the player who was part of the double-winning squad in his first season with Leverkusen.
Meanwhile, Belocian will spend the 2026/27 season on loan at LaLiga’s newly-promoted side Racing Santander. "On his return next year, he will be a promising candidate for us." said Leverkusen’s managing director Simon Rolfes.
Both deals are dry loans as the two players are expected to rejoin Leverkusen next summer.
