After a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Union Berlin before the international break, Borussia Dortmund returned to winning ways with a 2-1 win over St. Pauli on Friday.

It wasn't pretty, but the Black and Yellows got the job done thanks to a late winner from Serhou Guirassy, who took his tally to seven goals in seven games for the club following his summer move from Stuttgart.

Although Sahin has had a shaky start to his tenure, he can take confidence from Dortmund's Champions League results - a 3-0 win over Club Brugge and a 7-1 thrashing of Celtic.

However, Nuri Sahin's men face a very different sort of challenge in Madrid in a rematch of last season's Champions League final, which Real won 2-0.

Real Madrid began their Champions League campaign with a 3-1 win over Stuttgart before suffering a shock 1-0 defeat at Lille.

Having returned to form with domestic victories over Villarreal and Celta Vigo, Carlo Ancelotti's men will be looking to build on that winning streak when they welcome Dortmund to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

On the injury front, Real will be without Alaba (cruciate ligament), Carvajal (cruciate ligament), Ceballos (ankle) and Diaz (thigh).

Adeyemi (hamstring), Duranville (thigh) and Reyna (groin) are all unavailable for Dortmund, while Couto (muscle) is also likely to be ruled out.

Pascal Gross was forced off with a knock against St. Pauli, but should be fit for the game in Spain. Meanwhile, Niklas Süle is expected to return to the squad after missing the St. Pauli game through illness.
