Schalke sign Barkok from Mainz

Schalke 04 have confirmed the signing of Aymen Barkok from Mainz 05.

The 26-year-old midfielder has signed a short-term contract with the 2. Bundesliga side until the end of the season.

"With Aymen, we are signing a midfielder who can add a new dimension to our game in a number of different positions," said Youri Mulder, Schalke's director of professional football. 

“He brings with him the experience of more than 100 Bundesliga games and will settle in quickly here at Schalke.”

Barkok, who has made four appearances for Mainz this season, said:

“I am delighted to have the chance to show what I can do on the pitch at Schalke in the coming months. I want to make the most of it with good performances to help the team and the club in the best possible way.”
