Timo Werner is set to leave RB Leipzig to join American MLS side San José Earthquakes.
According to Bild, the striker’s move to the United States is in place after he officially terminated his contract with Leipzig on Wednesday.
However, Werner will not be relocating immediately and will continue training with RB Leipzig in the coming weeks.
The reason is that Werner’s wife is expecting their first child at the end of February, and the 29-year-old wants to be present for the birth.
San José began their preseason on January 10, with the MLS season set to kick off on February 21.
