Following the sudden dismissal of Arne Slot, Liverpool have apparently added VfB Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß to their shortlist.

Sources at The Athletic have noted that the Reds are considering the 44-year-old German and could hold talks with him shortly.

Hoeneß has been remarkably successful with Stuttgart since 2023, claiming on DFB-Pokal and qualifying for the Champions League twice.

However, the clear favourite to succeed Slot is Andoni Iraola, who is leaving AFC Bournemouth after three successful years at the club.

Should the Spaniard opt for the job on Merseyside, it would come as a big disappointment for Bayer Leverkusen.

The Rhineland outfit – according to Sky Germany during the week – were already in direct negotiations with Iraola.

Besides Hoeneß, RC Lens boss Pierre Sage is also said to have an outside chance of getting the managerial job at Anfield.
