Contract talks between Werder Bremen and head coach Ole Werner are in the final stretch.

“We’re not at the beginning of this process, but at the end,” Werner told DeichStube.

“It’s important for everyone involved to have clarity soon. Now it’s about making decisions. This won’t take another three or four weeks.”

Werner’s current contract runs until 2026, but both sides are working towards a long-term extension.

The 37-year-old has expressed a general willingness to continue, though he also emphasized the need for changes moving forward.

“It’s about making the right changes within the squad, the coaching staff, and the support team. We also need to think about adjusted workflows and whether we can introduce new stimuli,” he explained.

Werner has been Werder's head coach since 2021.
