Having already confirmed the signing of Jeanuel Belocian on loan from Bayer Leverkusen on Deadline Day, VfL Wolfsburg have added further reinforcement to their backline.

Die Wölfe confirmed on Monday evening that 22-year-old Ghana international Jonas Adjetey has joined from FC Basel.

The centre-back has signed a contract running through 2030 with the Bundesliga club.

“Jonas is a physically strong player, quick and dominant in duels. He brings exactly the qualities we need in our defence,” said Wolfsburg sporting director Pirmin Schwegler.

“Over the past three and a half years at FC Basel, he proved himself both in the league and internationally. We have high expectations for Jonas and are convinced he will immediately strengthen our team.”

Adjetey is looking forward to the challenge ahead.

“It means a lot to me to be in the Bundesliga now and take this step with VfL Wolfsburg. I’m looking forward to getting started immediately and will give everything every day to help us achieve the results we need,” he said.
