In an interview with Sky Germany, Max Eberl discussed a possible contract extension for Dayot Upamecano at Bayern Munich.

“Upa has developed into one of the best centre-backs in the world. He went through a phase where he made a few mistakes.

“We are working and making sure we do everything we can to make Dayot Upamecano sign new contract," Eberl added.

The Bavarian club's director of sport has made no secret of his desire to keep the French international at the German record champions.

Bayern paid €42.5million for the defender to join from RB Leipzig in 2021, but doubts surrounded his lack of consistency.

However, the 27-year-old appeared to iron those errors out of his game over the last 18 months to become a key cog in Kompany's backline.
