Bayer 04 Leverkusen midfielder Jonas Hofmann has revealed that he has been informed his contract will not be extended.

“The club has told me that, at present, my contract will not be extended beyond 2027. That would mean next year will be my last in Leverkusen,” Hofmann told Sky Germany.

Despite turning 35 next year, the former Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder is not considering hanging up his boots just yet.

“At some point, you start thinking about how long you want to keep playing,” he said, adding:

"I feel in top shape. I’m full of energy, so I don’t see it ending anytime soon.”

Hofmann joined Leverkusen from Gladbach in 2023.
