FC St. Pauli suffered their fifth consecutive defeat on Saturday, losing 2-0 to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Speaking after the game, head coach Alexander Blessin admitted that his side’s errors proved costly.

He highlighted the situation leading up to the first goal, when goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj failed to deal properly with a cross and allowed Jonathan Burkardt to score.

“We never gave up today, but we conceded cheaply again. As in the last four or five games, we were punished for our mistakes. We weren't tight enough before the first goal. Niko has rescued so many points for us, but when he made the mistake today, we weren't there,” Blessin said.

“We could have tucked in better for the second as well. It hurts to think of the goal we had ruled out for a narrow offside it would have done us good. I've told the lads it can only go in one direction now. We have to fight with everything we have and go into the tackles the way we should. We need the whole team for that.”

St. Pauli will now turn their attention to Tuesday’s DFB-Pokal clash with Hoffenheim.
