Marc-André ter Stegen is on the verge of completing a surprise move to Ajax Amsterdam after all parties reached an agreement in principle over a season-long loan, according to Sky Germany.
The report mentions that Ajax have successfully negotiated terms with both the Germany international and FC Barcelona, leaving only the final contractual details to be completed before the transfer is officially announced.
The deal will see Ter Stegen join the Dutch giants on a one-year loan, with no option to buy included in the agreement. Ajax are therefore expected to benefit from the 34-year-old's experience for the upcoming campaign before he returns to Barcelona.
If there are no unexpected setbacks, Ter Stegen will undergo his medical next week before signing the necessary paperwork to complete the move.
For Ter Stegen, the move offers the chance to enjoy regular first-team football in a new environment as he looks to maintain his place in the Germany setup ahead of future international tournaments.
