Dortmund bosses praise Süle's return to top shape: "My God, we have a new player"
Towards the end of last season, Niklas Süle was criticized for being out of shape.
But after holding serious talks with Borussia Dortmund bosses, the centre-back has returned from his holiday in much improved form, having reportedly lost 8-10 kilos.
His transformation has impressed Dortmund chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke, who was full of praise for the defender in an interview with Bild.
"I thought: My God, we have a new player," said Watzke.
“It's admirable how he's done it. I prefer it a thousand times more when someone admits a mistake and takes the appropriate steps, that's cool.”
BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl expressed similar views, telling Funke Mediengruppe:
"We talked to him. Niklas showed that he understood and wanted to take on the challenge," Kehl said, adding:
“He worked hard during his holidays and that was what was expected of him. It's a clear signal from Niklas that he wants to improve, that he wants to play consistently. That's a good statement. A Niklas Süle in top form helps every top team.”
