Freiburg unveil third summer signing

For the third day in a row, SC Freiburg have confirmed the arrival of a promising young attacker.

Derry Scherhant is making the move from the capital to the Black Forest, joining SC Freiburg from Hertha BSC.

The Bundesliga club confirmed the signing of the 20-year-old winger on Wednesday afternoon.

As is customary with the Breisgau outfit, the length of the contract has not been disclosed

"We got to know Derry in our talks as an open and grounded young man, and we share a strong motivation to unlock his full potential," said Freiburg sporting director Klemens Hartenbach.

"Derry is physically strong, quick, and has a good instinct for goal. He also shows the right attitude on the pitch. Thanks to his somewhat unorthodox path into professional football, he’s retained a refreshing sense of freedom and fearlessness."

Scherhant shared his excitement about the move:

"From the very first conversations, I felt the energy and excitement about working together - so I’m super happy. My goal is to give everything and earn as many minutes on the pitch as possible. I’m really looking forward to the new season here in Freiburg."

This marks Freiburg's third signing in as many days, following the arrivals of Cyriaque Irié from Troyes and Yuito Suzuki from Brøndby IF.
