Bayern Munich snapped a two-match losing streak by drawing 2-2 with Arsenal in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal at the Emirates Stadium.

Harry Kane, who scored from the penalty spot, was delighted with the way the Bayern players stuck together after a tough run.

"This has been a big game in my career, being at Tottenham for so many years. I'm just happy to be able to put the penalty away and help the team," Kane told Amazon Prime.

"Tonight we had to become more of a team. We had to come together. It was probably the perfect game because it's a Champions League quarter-final away from home.

“You have to dig deep, you have to show some passion, some togetherness – and that's what we did.”

The return leg takes place on Wednesday next week at the Allianz Arena in Munich, and Kane is naturally hopeful that Bayern will get the job done on home soil and book their place in the semi-finals.

“It wasn't an easy game. Arsenal are a really good team. They're top of the Premier League right now so we had to dig deep at times but it's a good result and hopefully we can make the difference at home,” he said.

"You're never happy when you don't win but Arsenal have shown they're a really strong team at home so it's one we take in our stride. Our fans can make a difference. We've taken a small step and we've got a big game next week. Being English, [the final at] Wembley, being my national stadium, is a big dream. But there's a long way to go."
