Report: Hoeness has release clause, could replace Xabi at Leverkusen
Sebastian Hoeness has worked wonders at VfB Stuttgart, who he led to a second-place finish in the Bundesliga last season, and therefore it's only natural if bigger clubs are keeping an eye on him.
And should he want to leave Stuttgart at the end of the season, he has an option that makes it possible for him to get out of his contract, which runs until 2027.
That's according Sport Bild, who claims that Hoeness has a release clause of €5-6 million that will be active in the summer and which only applies to clubs playing internationally.
One possible future employer is Bayer Leverkusen, who may find it difficult to retain Xabi Alonso as their coach after this season.
If the Spaniard leaves, Hoeness could be the man to replace him, according to the report, which claims the German champions are scouting the 42-year-old Stuttgart coach.
Manchester United and Chelsea are also said to be monitoring Hoeness.
For now, however, he is concentrating on the task at hand with Stuttgart and building on the club's impressive 2023/24 campaign.
