TSG Hoffenheim have been hit by a major injury blow ahead of their crucial Bundesliga clash with RB Leipzig on Friday.

Head coach Christian Ilzer confirmed at a press conference on Thursday that Leon Avdullahu has sustained an adductor muscle injury and will be sidelined for some time.

“We unfortunately have to announce the absence of a key player. Leon Avdullahu will not be available for us for several weeks,” Ilzer said.

With eight Bundesliga games remaining this season, Avdullahu is still expected to feature before the summer.

“I assume that he will still be available again this season,” Ilzer said.

To fill the void, Albian Hajdari could be moved up from central defence to the No. 6 position. Alternatively, Grischa Prömel or Wouter Burger could play in a deeper role.
