Report: Leipzig line up possible replacements for Olmo and Simons

RB Leipzig have drawn up a list of possible replacements for Xavi Simons and Dani Olmo, according to Sport Bild.

RB Leipzig could enter the 2024/2025 season without two of their most important attacking players from last season, Xavi Simons and Dani Olmo.

Simons established himself as a key player for RB Leipzig on loan from Paris Saint-Germain last season, and the Bundesliga outfit are keen to keep hold of him. However, it remains to be seen whether they can reach an agreement with PSG to keep the Dutchman.

Meanwhile, it's unclear whether Dani Olmo will stay at the club. The Spaniard has been linked with a move away from the club for some time and has a reported €60 million release clause.

According to Sport Bild, Leipzig want to be prepared for the eventuality that neither Simons nor Olmo will be playing for the club next season and have identified possible replacements.

One of the players on the list is Angel Gomes, who scored two goals and laid on 10 assists in 45 appearances for Lille in all competitions last season.

Wolfsburg's Patrick Wimmer is apparently another option being considered by Die Roten Bullen, but Borussia Dortmund are also believed to be keeping tabs on the Austrian international.

Leipzig already have a potential replacement in Eljif Elmas, who was signed from Napoli in January for a reported €24 million. However, the 24-year-old has yet to impress in a Leipzig shirt.
