VfL Osnabrück beat VfL Bochum away from home as they recorded their first three points back in 2. Bundesliga. Ismail Badjie’s fourth-minute strike was the difference between the sides as Bochum suffered a second Friday night defeat at Vonovia Ruhrstadion.

The 20-year-old midfielder scored his goal with a brilliant finish after Leonhard Munst spotted his free run in the left flank. Adrian Beck, who produced a strong performance for Heidenheim against Osnabrück in the opening matchday, also found the net with a calm finish in the first-half, but it was from an offside position.

Like their defeat in the curtain raiser against Hertha BSC, Bochum thoroughly dominated the game after the restart without creating clear-cut chances. Uwe Rösler’s side have only scored one goal in their first three 2. Bundesliga matches as they face another season outside the promotion race.

Osnabrück will now have three successive home games. After a home cup tie against the mighty FC Bayern on Wednesday, they will host Eintracht Braunschweig and league leaders Hertha. Bochum’s next game will be against Dynamo Dresden on September 5th.
