After missing Bayern Munich’s final game of 2025 against Heidenheim due to a muscle injury, Manuel Neuer is closing in on a return.

The 39-year-old revealed at a fan event on Sunday (via DPA) that he expects to be back in goal when Bayern kick off 2026 against Wolfsburg next week.

“I’m feeling quite well. Today, I joined the team for parts of training, and I’m confident that I’ll be in goal against Wolfsburg in the next home game,” Neuer said.

The veteran goalkeeper also addressed the possibility of extending his contract beyond this summer, saying he is “positive” about a new deal, but wants to see “how things develop over the next few months.”

Neuer is expected to make a final decision regarding his future by the end of March or in early April.
